I'm in shanghai china and the fire eels are hard to come by. I saw some last year, easily 20-24" and very thick for really cheap too. Like 60-70 usd for that size.

^ never been to shanghai, but down in Guangzhou they have the "Yue Hei" market i think its called??? They have an amazing selection of fish to choose from...

China's private aquaria market is probably 20x larger than all of North America and I may be underestimating it at that too.. Lol here in shanghai, I don't think any of the pet markets are as big as the ones in Guangzhou but there are easily over a dozen large ones in the city alone.
