Hello, I am new here and hoping I can get some good advise. I am looking at a tank for sale that is about a five hour drive from my house. Tank is a 300 gallon acrylic, 8 feet long, 2 feet front to back, and 30 inches high. I have not seen the tank in person however I have 10 pictures for you guys. Please share your thoughts, I have never owned an acrylic tank. I was told that all panels are 3/4 inch thick with exception of the top, which is slightly thinner. Any thoughts on the seams, or anything would be great. Tank has been empty for a year but was previously a salt water tank. I was told there are some small scratches which really would not be an issue for me, I am much more concerned with structural integrity. Price is $3000 Thanks

Thanks guys, this is not exactly an easy purchase for me. I have been scoping craigslist for over a year now and there is just not much out there in this part of the country.

What else is included? Fishtanksdirect.com sells that size tank for $2850 or so but that does not include stand and filters. You're not getting much of a discount.

I got a 450 from fishtanksdirect. the bottom and sides are only half inch. and the top is 1 inch. it don't leak or anything but I wish it was thicker and they only put 1 inch plumbing for the over flows. so I'm limited on my turnover.

so yes well there tanks are cheaper that's what u are getting is the cheapest they can build that tank for you and every shortcut they can take.

If you had that size what fish would you keep? I ask since depending on what you keep, it would be ideal to have a bit wider. The length would be awesome. Just something to think about before dropping $3K+. You may want to just go custom and get the exact size you want. Just my .02.

Fishtankadirect will customize. The one I quoted has 3/4 glass. Regardless there are other close manufacturers. Price just seems high.

Thanks for the input, Well the tank comes with a bunch of stuff, however since I already have several tanks full of African Cichlids, probably totaling 100 fish, the tank would pretty much be full. I am trying to combine my current tanks into one. The tank comes with everything needed to make it run saltwater, protein skimmers, computer to send water readings to phone, sump filter, several pumps, high end lighting, powerheads, and much more. I agree if the dimensions were three foot front to back and two foot high that would be nicer even though its the same gallons. However all the African cichlids are so small even when full grown that this tank would be just fine. This sale is a take everything I have type sale. There is also several smaller 55 gallon tanks filled with fish, I will add pictures, he also has some really nice large pieces of driftwood, a giant piece of texas holey rock, and 250lbs of the straight black tahita sand, two eight hundred watt heaters and so on. But like I said I really just want the big tank but the 3000 includes all of this so might as well take it right? I do have room for these fish, at least for a few years.
