Location of Cichla in Brazil

Thanks tongue33............ that was sad news.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

2 more locations: rio grande and Ituverava, Sao Paulo, Brazil.

Looking back this thread... how many location did I post on State of Sao Paulo ???

On map each location was only about couple inches away, but yet the difference between variations was SHOCKINGLY different.
You can see cichla from one particular location look very very similar to those caught in the same location, but significantly different than those from neighboring locations.

Funny how people talk about same species found in different continents look alike?? then Cichla species look so different in such as close proximity.

Maybe cichlas are NOT migratory fish. They stay in one location, breed and differentiate into each own variant.

excellent work james. now i really want a pbass and i really want to go fishing. thanks for taking the time to do all of this. i'd really like to see a trip for cichla fishing in their native waters materialize. its something i've wanted to do for a very long time now.

I couldn't find any nigromaculate from my picture search. :(
Please refer to this website if that's what you are looking for.

This is an article mentioned about introducing Cichla monoculus, C. intermediate C. orinocensis, C. temensis and C. ocellaris. to amazon basin for commercial value. Also by using DNA PCR hybridization they were able to find out natural hybridization between species........

I believe rio negro is one of them. Thus don't be surprised to see temensis, orinos, mono, nigromaculata in one river.
