Hi MFKers. My name is Erik and i have been juggling the thought of making a Drylok on OSB (Stronger than ply, more prone to water damage though) tank with 6x2x2 dimensions. I started to buy everything to do it,but then i thought, i dont want to risk 180 gallons of water on my floor and a rotted Dryloked box,so i put the project on the back-burner until i could afford some hardiboard. Last week, i went to my cousins house to help him with his spring cleaning, and he was going to throw away a 26x24x18 OSB box which he used as a speaker box. I took it and decided it would make a perfect candidate for a drylok on ply tank! And the cost, it is minimal. Lets just say you spend more for a decent net than what i spent for my practice.
Lets Break down the costs:
26x24x18 speaker box-free
24x18 1/4 inch thick sheet of glass-$14.00
Drylok,1 gallon (i measured it,i used like 6 ounces for 3 coats,1 gal was 21.98,1 gallon is like 160 ounces,.137 cents an ounce times 6) .82 cents
1 350 gph pump- free (it was given to me from a friend who left the hobby)
200w jager heater-free (other project, bought it years ago)
total-$14.80
NOTE: this includes everything but the filter, will add those prices later
