Just picked this little guy up today at a fish shop in another city where I was visiting friends. There were two tanks next to each other, one with slightly larger ones (around 1.5-1.75") labeled 'Borneo Tigers' for $104ea, and one with smaller ones (1-1.25") labeled 'Siamese Tigers' for $56.50 each. I asked the guy working what the story was, and he just said 'thats what they came in as and thats what they cost'.
After lots of looking and considering options, I decided to take one of the $104 ones which was looking really active and nicely coloured, and called the guy over to catch it. My friend had bought quite a few fish and the guy had written them down on a piece of paper. After bagging my fish, he turned the piece of paper over, looked up at the two tanks, looked at the fish, looked at the tanks again and wrote down "1x $56.50".
I took the fish and piece of paper to the counter, paid my $56.50 and walked out with a big grin on my face while my friend was cursing and muttering because he was nearly going to buy that fish but decided he'd spent enough without a further $100 for one fish!!
That made my day [and made me forget my hangover!] so I thought I'd share.
