I have in the plans a new plywood tank build. I had alot of trouble finding a waterproofer for the plywood that i liked. I looked into fireglassing it, epoxy sealing it, pond shield, Blue Max liquid rubber, dryloc, and several others. I finally found somthing that fit my demands. It is called Zavlar by liquid rubber.

This stuff is non-toxic, very very flexable, very stong, sticks to just about anything, doesnt have a bad smell, impact/penatration resistant, ect. ect..... plus its only comes to $39 CAD a gallon(approx. $31 american)

It also doesnt have to be mixed in two parts like other products of the same use.

I'd like to get others opinions on this relatively new product of canada.
they make a few different names of this stuff, but its all the same, just different types for different was to applicate.
Two potential "problems" with these single component elastomeric compounds are 1) cold joints and 2) the high cost due to the relatively thick coats that are required.

Cold joints can be avoided assuming you have enough product and time to do an entire coat at once. This also assumes that the product can be applied to vertical surfaces, which I believe is not a problem with this product.

The required build thickness can quickly add up so don't be fooled into thinking the material will be cheaper than other options necessarily. I think one of the previous posts showed the label which suggested a coat thickness of 0.5mm to 1.0mm. I'm not sure if that's a total for two coats or the thickness of each individual coat.

Most epoxy resins and epoxy paints list their coat thickness' in mils instead of mm. I believe there are 1000 mils in an inch so that would mean a 1mm coat of this stuff would be 40 mils.

Keep that in mind when comparing it to the cost of Pond Armour and other products mentioned in plywood tank threads.

Now, with all that said, I hope this stuff works and I look forward to seeing the results.

Pond armor goes on in like 100mil coats based on what I've seen in other threads. This product looks cool, about the same price as using fiberglass resin, but without the smell, or the need to mix up individual batches.

I already bought the rubber. 2 gallons. i may need another, but im not sure yet. i got it from a home hardware. if you have that chain near you, they may be able to get it for you too.
Im getting the glass from a local dealing. they want $16 a square foot(plus 13% tax) for 1/2 inch glass. what were you quoted at? its will cost me roughly $180 for the piece i need.
home hardware is literally a 2min drive from my place, its my day off tomorrow so it looks like ill be paying a visit. chances are they wont have it in stock but shouldn't have a problem ordering 2 gals. the local glass company here wants $15 a square foot for 10mm tempered. thats not even 1/2 inch and their person at the desk was an absolute horror of a personality. i'll have to google or yellowpage my way through some out of town companies.
