Okay Here is my DIY overflow like the sticky says. I still have to glue it all together but I wanted to get thoughts or suggestions from ya'll before I glue. Take a look and tell me what you think.

I still need to get the air check valve. I'll pick that up in the next few days to finish it. Plus I'm going to angle the part where water comes in a put some sort of screen or block so nothing finds its way down the tube.

Here it is on the ground.

Here is one shot in the tank.

You can see I added a drop down so it goes into the sump

Lotsa problems, so little time...

1. The vent pipe needs to be above the water line. Other wise when the pump shuts off, water will pour out the vent.
2. The tee on the outside needs to be higher than the bottom of the lower loop on the inside. Otherwise the water will syphon out during a shut down or power failure, and it will not restart.
3. You need to plan for removal of the overflow for maintenance. Buy a union to go after the tee so that you can take it apart.
4. You may want to add a ball valve after the tee to control gurgling. If this will be in a bedroom or close to one, it can drive you nuts.

CHOMPERS, do you see anything else wrong with it? I understand what you are saying needs to be fixed. I'm looking into making one myself, and these pictures helped alot.

Correct?

SWEET!!! Thanks man.

Okay...
1. Vent pipe can be done easily. I have plenty more pipe.
2. I was actually wondering that and it can be fixed.
3. By 'after the tee' do you mean above it or below the tee? I'm a little confused on that one.
4. I was planning on figuring that out once I got to that point

Thanks for the help. IF you see anything else I should fix let me know.

Here is a pic to give you ideas. I can't find the pic of it finished but I got some black plastic netting from the walmart fabric dept and glued it onto a 90 fitting. When the glue was dry, I trimmed the netting. Then I assembled the two 90's with the gap in the middle. I then painted everything black. At the top of the gap, I drilled a vent hole so that the water can re-enter the loop after a shut down.

'After' meaning when your overflow looks like this, then the next thing to add to the tee would be the ball valve and union.
