the sailfin pleco i had damaged the jardini even more.
i've moved the jardini to another tank with a partition and some salt and melafix. he's acting and eating normally so he should be ok. it's gonna take a long time to heal all those scales though...

here's some pics of the severe damage to fins/scales.
and do you think it's safe to remove the partition when the jardini heals?
or is it still too small? the silver is tame, but he did surprise me by eating an ID shark the same size as him when he was 12". it was only that one time i saw any aggression.

weren't you supposed to remove the pleco long time ago
anyways your silver might eat the jar (really nice silver you have there )
your jar has received some nice bruises if it is accepting food its fine add increase the protein content in the jar's food shoul help heal a little quicker
by the way where is the pleco now

i switched the original sailfin pleco with a smaller sailfin from my other cichlid tank hoping it wont' be so aggressive.
problem got even worse.
the sailfin pleco is now in the jardini's original tank...considering selling it.

duh!!!
its not algae is short, you gotta feed them if you don't want them hunting

aeri try feeding the pleco with algae wafers and any other veggies(cucumber, spinach) and fruits.

then it might be more docile

I had a 9" Sailfin plec that messed up my then 20" Clown Knife overnight, eventually i had to sell it.

Anyways about your Jar i would put him in a hospital tank add a little salt, some meds and just wait it out, aros are amazingly fast healers. Your Silver looks amazing, his mouth does look big enough to take care of the Jardini if it gives him trouble so i would be careful.

i feed it algae wafers twice a week and some white lettuce with carrot once a week. it disappears overnight so i'm not sure if the pleco ate it or another fish.

anyways. i think i'll throw in a large driftwood for the pleco to suck on and see if it helps. otherwise i'll sell it or trade it for some other pleco species. i'll let the jardini heal first and grow a bit, then decide what to do.

thanks for comments about the silver. i've had him since he still had his egg sack. he jumped out once and hit the floor. his scales have mostly healed up since then, including the pelvic fin that broke off. and he developed a bit of dropeye after removing the gravel from the tank.
