i added a 4" oscar and 2x close to 3" GTs yesterday to my 180g tank which has a 8" jar and 4x 6-7" catfish
today morning i noticed my jar breathing erratically
he is swimming and eating normally
and is still active as i can see him chasing the oscar and the GTs from the moment they have been introduced to the tank
had done a 40% w/c day before yesterday but couldn't check the water parameters as i don't have one now and my lfs is yet to get me one
did another 25% w/c now just in case
but it still is breathing erratically

can anyone tell me what is wrong

just sounds like he's stressing due to the new tankmates

ok now he has even stopped eating
previously when i used to put earthworms even before they hit the bottom of the tank my jar used to gobble them up but now he doesn't even look at them though they might be lying just beside him

i am really freaking out

and recently he has started to swim at the bottom of the tank grazing the floor, do jars do that :cry::cry:

remove the tank mates, see how he reacts. Jardinis are really solitary fish that light being alone maybe you added to much to fast? What are you water parameters?

i have removed the oscar and the GTs
and the jar which was hiding behind the powerhead when he was not chasing and biting the new fish has started to swim around the tank now

but his breathing still looks erratic to me
kind of like gulping
and hasn't eaten anything yet

ok today morning his breathing is alright
but is still not accepting food
test for that and try adding salt to calm his butt down.
may be he needs to calm down before he eats i guess
