under a bridge in fl
got this a while ago.
not sure what it is.
im guessing more then 6 months ago i put it in a 20g tupperware full of water outside.
changed the water the first few months then stopped.
then a few months ago i added mosquito fish, water lettuce, and more water plants.
water has been clear for a while with no water changes.
i was soaking it for my pond but im thinking of maybe putting it in my 240g.
opinions?
type of wood?
safe to add to tank?
worst that will happen is the water will brown?
sorry for the long post and questions.
just setting it up and dont wanna screw it up.
if this is the wrong section, sorry.

If it's been soaking for ages, and hasn't killed the crash test dummy fish, then it's probably safe.

No idea what it is though

does it matter what kind of wood you use?
There are some woods that are naturally toxic, I wouldn't use cedar or walnut in a tank, but 90% of wood will be safe.

and after what ive done would it be safe for my tank?
Yes it should be.

will it always brown the water?
It will probably still leach tannins to some degree, but after 6 months of soaking it will be minimal.

Cheers

If your tank is acrylic it could leach into ... From what I hear.. but I wouldn't know personally as Mine is still leaching form the wood :D

I haven't wiped the acrylic down for ever!!!
