For those who a familiar with salt water tanks one of the pains we Indore are freak went water changes. Most of use usually do this in a 5 gallon bucket. I do 15gallons a week on a 90 gal reef, imagine when you start a 220 or larger. Once you've done this for a while you start thinking of easer ways. So here's what I've come up with so for form a few spare parts laying around and a trip or two to the hardware store.

here's most of the parts 30 gal barrel, pvc fittings, mag drive pump, stealth heaters

here's it assembled. one valve for mixing and the other for pumping it out

now I went a little over board on the stand I needed 8" for the pump so I took some angle I had laying around and welded it up and then I powder coated it, best way to paint metal as far as I'm concerned and easy.

I put a valve on the bottom to drain it

well there it is what ounce took me a half hour now takes me 5 minutes.just make the 15 gals of water with a ro/di unit dump 9 cups of salt turn the heaters and pump on and your done. when it gets up to temp I just roll to the tank and pump it in.

sweet design..also useful for freshwater tanks. as the aged water will have no more chlorine and you can make all of u'r pH adjustments before it's in u'r tank

That really is freeken awesome. One of these days I intend to get a big tank, but even with out one I can see the benefit to having something like that. Even with like Buckster said, being able to do all you Adjustments before going into tank.

Thats a good design you have there because it will mix the salt and water perfect and in a short time. I think i know what my next project is going to be.

This is a great design. Easy to make and simple to use. WTG! This would work great for me as well. My tank is across the basement from the utility room so this would help keep me from spilling water.

Oh man I love this! This will work great for my outdoor Koi pond, I like to keep the salt level constant and with each water change I flush out the salt and then have to fix it.
Yeah I'm with RexFish I know what my next weekend project is going to be.

That's pretty sweet, i'll have to see how i can incorporate something like that into my fresh water setup...

Very nice work !!!
