There is small spots of white algae on the glass that I can see move with the current. Tank is only 2 months old and in the past I have faced parasites and disease but never really had an algae problem. What meds should I try? Water conditions are not perfect but pretty good!

If it is white it is probably not algae, get a good, strong magnifiying glass and check it out. If it looks fuzzy it is probably fungus on food particles

i have them on my glass... they came at the same time as my snails... so I figure they are related.

poke it to see if it's hard. There is a weird shaped small snail that might be the culprit. I have them in one of my tanks. they never get big.

I have run into the same problem on new tanks in the past. The tanks were not fully cycled, is the tank close to sunlight?

i have the same issue in one of my tanks the overstocked one with poor filtration big water changes are the only fix and try feeding a little less

its funny one tank grows all the green algae, one tank teh brown, one tank is always crystal clear and i have a ten that fish grow in faster than my other tens just my observations but strange still because thay are all in the same room with the same filters

When bacteria starts to cycle it may show up some white stuff at the glass. But if the tank is full cycled I don't know.

Actually I have noticed this exact same thing on some of my tankz...bugga it all. If you watch them though, you will see that they actually move...so they are alive. I think they are some sort of neotode or something along those lines. At first I thought they were hydra but I don't think they are that. I have Malaysian Trumpet Snails in my tankz, which are live bearing. It is possible that this is the larvae stage of the trumpet snails. Water changes do seem to clear it up nicely though. I am gonna be gettin some gouramis though, as they are especially good at eating hydra, neotodes, and the like. Just a thought. As long as your fish aren't too big they should be alright.

Howdy,

I think Peanut_Power is on the right track, suspecting nematodes (roundworms). Watch these things closely for a few min and see if they move. If they do, they're most likely planaria (flatworms). What fish do you have in your tank, and what filtration? Excess planaria are mostly caused by underpowered filtration and/or too long water change intervals. They cause no harm but are not pretty, either. Gouramis and bettas love them. They can be battled chemically, but I strongly advise against that. Frequent water changes and better biological filtration will take care of them
