i want to keep single or a pair of silver arowana but

appropriate size so that it accepts flake food readilly and should be hardy

aquarium size 5'1'1.6'

tankmates 3"-4 " RD/Red Oscar[p]/Fh+5"-6" fat albinocatfish and a tortoise of size 3"-4"

food that my arowana would love to eat and that brings out best colouration in my arowana and should be healthy

I AM A BEGINEER TO SILVER AROWANA

Ya for a short while, but by then you'll be getting bigger tanks. We all do:ROFL:  It's an addiction. my friends and family tried to have an intervention. ha ha ha

hikari food sticks promote coloration and is very good for for them, you should try to get it on them straight away, also you really need the aro to be bigger than the oscar, and as dmopar74 already stated that tank is too small for it for life.

You're probably going to need a much larger tank especially if you want to house it with all of those other guys.

Tortoises are known to make things a bit dirty so that might be a conflict as Arowanas demand clean water, especially if you plan on housing two. IIRC, Arowanas need at least 150 gallons in order to be kept properly and that's PER SINGLE Arowana.

Honestly, I'd just stick with what you have or get something a little smaller.

yeah if you have a midget aro:ROFL:

Well that's what I've read anyway. One site actually said the minimum to keep an Arowana was 70 gallons so Bollocks to that.

Then again I've never kept nor seen a fully grown Aro in person so I'm no expert lol.

minimum for ONE silver aro should be at least 240 IMO, many people would say even larger than that. 150g  midget aros

3' front to back and at LEAST 8' for life... whatever that comes out to with the depth added.....

as said you can upgrade tanks when they grow, but that gets kind of expensive, but then again you can just put more fish in there
