went to this ditch/puddle last week
castneted and caught 2 gar,one was big
went back today and the water is way low
so i start fishing it for the big gar
"going for a record gar" lol
i catch one on a small rattle trap
about 22"
i put him back in the puddle
heres a pic of him in the puddle i caught him in
the middle wasnt much deeper then in this pic
heres a pic of the puddle
no joke
all these gar even the big one were in this puddle
you could tell people were riding their atv's in the mud to
not even knowing it was full of gar
you should have seen the look on peoples faces driving by that seen me fishing in this puddle
here is the second gar i caught
about 20"
caught him on a bigger rattle trap
here is the gar above in his new home
a few hundred yards away from the mud puddle was a huge ditch with lots of water
so i carried him over and let him go
so after i caught those 2 on a rod and reel i couldnt hook the big guy
so i busted out the castnet
found out there was more then just one big guy left!
big guy had a big ole hook in his head
one of the hooks that dont rust also
so now i have 3 to carry hundreds of yards!
well as you could guess the monster one wasnt liking the bucket
so i had to carry him with pliers on his tail
and in the other hand i had a bucket with gar tails sticking out
people were driving by looking at me,again, like,he is
heres the big guy
25-26"
here he is in his new home, same big ditch as above
heres the hook i removed
another gar
about 21"
and this guy was about 18-19"
and heres the big guy and one of the others feeling out their new home
thats it
sure was alot of excitement from one lil puddle
and the 4 gar i rescued and relocated and operated on are lovin life i bet
hey rally, this is that first ditch i brought you to
