Ok, time for a real update! I placed an order for lots of HC on Monday from Mark at RMC Aquatics. It arrived today and he even threw in some extra pieces of HC and a pot HM. 
I was a little concerned because the HC didnt look too healthy, but this is the first time ive dealt with this plant so i assumed its normal after shipping. the plants appeared to have suffered from some melting and i couldnt really distinguish between stems and roots, so i just hope it comes out okay!
Planting took me about two hours. there's A LOT of HC that you cant see as its buried in the substrate. i started planting individual pieces at first, then the clumps slowly got bigger as i got to the other side of the tank lol! this stuff is a PIA to plant!
After i finished, i sealed the top with some wrapping plastic. ill be misting the plants a few times a day with old tank water. I placed an order today for all of my dry ferts from Rex's website. when they arrive, i plan on mixing up a solution of NPK and then ill start misting with this.
So what do you guys think? How does the HC look, does that look normal? Do you think it will survive and start to grow? I hope its not completely dead as i really dont want to have to replant this thing.
