Thought i'd take some time and show you my newest addition to my outdoor set-up http://www.monsterfishkeepers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=166873&page=4

Sorry for the mobile photo photo quality - forgot my cam ....not sure if that woulda made any difference though (considering my cam skills)

I got a gator from my friend whose aquarium could not properly house his no more (see the poor critter in the aquarium in which he could not turn properly). He did not want to put his gar in the pond so he asked if i'd take him in - I naturally agreed.

The gar was not so keen to leave though. When we tried to get him out, he ended up busting my friend's tank (front glass exploded when he made a dash for it - i was so shocked that i forgot to take the picture of the entire mess). I drove home like crazy and got him all prepped for transfer. Yikes, i did not quarantined him though, cos my friends set-up is even clearer than mine so i don't think there are disease issues (plus he does not feed live things to his fish)

The morale of the story? Hehehehe while the gar was free of charge, i felt so bad about my friend's aquarium ...so bad that i volunteered to pay for the tank repair....so not so free after all. Now let us hope that the serial offending/murdering RTC is more understanding of a new tank mate and lets him live long enough to become a moster to ^^

Check the above link for photos of the new "small" gar with other monsters next week

PS: this gar has munched two bichirs that my friend tried to house with him in gar's childhood lol.

The pond is 3x2x0.8 (LxWxH) with water. Should be OK for couple of years

Hehehehe i powerfed mine original ones until 20" then slowed down - at 20" it can eat everything that is available at fresh market so i am not too in a hurry to grow mines yet ... though they have grown on the slow diet to 50" and upwards rather quickly ^^

PS: the new gar is probably only around 16" tops ... yikes - i hope gators are not canibals. The worse offence on my gator is a bashed up silver (when they were growing together with a separator)

U r a lucky guy...
