This is a picture of my 10 year old son (Alex) with his first ever lure caught fish, and what a fish it was. He fished with me and my friend Mark nearly every Saturday last winter and had some nice fish but could not catch a thing on the lure. But this shows how perseverance paid off this year. On a tiny local river my friend and I walked up to have a look at a likely spot my son said he was going to fish under a over hanging tree we were just walking away when he shouted dad I’ve got a pike we ran back to see his little lure rod bent over and a big swirl under the tree. After a short fight he had it on the bank not the pike he was after but a 5lb Chub. This proves that if you really give it your all it will pay off.

better than my first lure caught fish......maybe a 7oz blue gill! Congrats Kiddo

now all you have to do is teach your Dad how to get a fish like that :ROFL:

Great catch, my first catch was a little perch in France.

Shame about the Pike though, tell him if he does ever catch a pike, I'll buy it from him, if he's willing to ship it here :D
