Venting Peacock Bass

Venting is a technique used to determine the sex of a fish.

It does involve the observation of the vent, that is the genital organ (genital papilla) situated between the anal fin and the anus.

In some species of fish someone experienced may be able to determine the sex of some species as early as three month of age.

This thread intends to collect informations on vents of Peacock Bass ( genus cichla), on both male and female specimens.

We will try to determine the design of the vents for both gender (sex).

We will try to determine if immature specimens can be sexed through venting.

We need pictures of vents of all species of Peacock Bass including informations on gender and age and name of the fish if any.
