The Newport Aquarium is in Newport, Kentucky, right across the river from Cincinnati's two stadiums where the Reds and Bengals play. I raised up 6 young Caquetaia spectabilis cichlids, got a breeding pair, and donated the other 4 to the Newport Aquarium. There's a lot more to the story, you can read up on the cichlid forums, there is a sticky "Anything Caquetaia".
They were originally gonna put them in the huge Amazon aquarium, but then decided they would get lost in there, so they put them in a much smaller 1000 where people could more easily see them. The info plaque for Caquetaia spectabilis is still on the huge Amazon tank instead of the one the specs are actually in. I'm sure they'll fix that eventually, they gotta be busy with all those critters to care for!
And I know these aren't really mine any more, but I still feel an attachment towards them. I am an ACA member, so iI plan to be there in Cinci big time for the ACA convention next year. Any MKFers inwho attend, we'll have to get together, hit the Newport Aquarium, and have some drinks for those who indulge, oh yeah! I likie my beer.
