There is about a 1" gap where I am getting a leak. Is this something that really needs fixed and if so, how should I fix it? It's not a huge deal so I don't want to send the tank back

OK, so I should be able to just use some cement to fill in the gap.

get some 1/2" acrylic rod from a plastic shop or online. then use some weldon 16 to seal it from inside the overflow box. im pretty sure acrylic world would be happy to send you everything you need free of charge.

It will be necessary to patch the hole to prevent flooding in case of a power outage.

If it is an acrylic tank, just do as previously mentioned and glue another piece to "patch" it.

If it is glass, remove the old silicone and apply new silicone to seal the leak.

I sure hope what I used works. I will test it again sometime. If it does leak, I'm going to have to drain the tank and do what you guys said on the inside of the tank. I get in too much of a rush and couldn't wait for the weld-on.

the lids weren't packaged well and all broke and he told me he was going to replace them. he just told me to use silicone to fix the leak though :irked:
