I've never been particularly good at these set up diary kinda threads, but this time I'll try to take plenty of photos and keep it updated. There's going to be a heap of action while I'm getting everything moved and set up, and then it'll probably go quiet for a while when the mortgage payments kick in, until I finish training and get a $10/hr payrise. The long term plan is to have 2-3 large tanks, a couple of couches and a bar fridge, but there will be a few smaller tanks in the mean time while various fish grow out, and until finances permit the purchase of larger tanks.
It has begun! We took possession of our house this weekend, and while my wonderful partner was tirelessly cleaning the kitchen I ripped up the carpet in the sleep-out and started preparing the fish room. The tank maker delivered the 210g (180x75x60cm) and sump today, it was supposed to go straight on the stand but it isn't ready yet. Grr. Anyway, I love the dimensions of the tank, the extra 6" width makes it look a whole lot bigger than a standard 180g. Wide tanks rule, I have pledged never to own a tank that is taller than it is wide!
This week I'll be getting the stand delivered, plumbing the sump etc and getting ready for the big move on Saturday. Going to have the 210g set up and ready, then the fish, bio media and about half the water from my 160g will be going into the 210g, then my clown loaches than have been crammed in an 80g will go in the 160g, along with a few geophagus and rotkeil sev grow outs.
Anyway, here's a couple of pics to get it started, will post more when the stand turns up.
