Hi guys.this is my second idea about this.First I like plants asmuch
as fish so growing them is my reason for this idea and also I think
such a filter would be wicked cool.ha ha.
this is my idea.

oh and the divider after the normal plants is ment to be like that.I just want the water to overflow to the
next chamber instead of going underneaf it.Im planning on having my rosy barb in the first chamber.as they
usauly destroy one of my favourite plants.(African tiger lotus.)its supose to grow to the surface and then
flower at night but the rosy keep trimming the plant back so it never reaches the surface.

And this was the previous idea.someone advised me to leave the extra container with the siphon tube out and focus on the sump dividers.

Amazing idea, any preliminary set-up? As a note of interest, you may already know this, but some "bog" plants prefer tannic/acidic waters. Overall the trick would be to provide enough growing media and flow for the plant roots without hindering their growth from to much flow.

Additionally, consider the placement of some "pre-filter" material just before the return pump. This should catch any plant by-products such as leaves, roots and debris in general.

Respectfully,
FireMedic.

I am adding some driftwood to the main tank, will this aid in the acidicnes of the water?

I havent started on the sump yet,but Im currently buisy building the stand and cabinet that will house the sump.

I had a similar idea, I was cultivating java fern and java moss in my sump. Problem was, the surface tended to accumulate floating fats and mulm. The plants themselves got a bit of detritus on them, but grew well...

What will you be using to light this? I put a fixture resting overtop of the dividing walls. The bog plants will be too tall for taking advantage of the light, if you did that...

Hygrophilla difformis (spelling?) looks really nice in it's emergent state.

I was thinking of just adding 2 seprate fixtures,so the bog will have a light source from above it also.
