Hi

I have a 55gal. also have a 30gal long I want to make as a sump.
What design would work best for a Stand to hold both and still be strong and sturdy?

thanks

Most popular design. make measurements as needed.

Mine,

Used the principles above and modified for my needs. Holding a 240 ply tank. See gallery in my signature line for more pics if you want.

my 55 gallon sits on a 100% plywood stand. I made a box out of 3/4 plywood, with no internal bracing. My cichlid tank has at least 100 lbs of rocks, 40lbs of sand, plus about 350 lbs worth of water, and another 50lbs of canopy on top. (its in my profile gallery).

If you need to make the stand a couple inches deeper than the sump tank, just move the display tank to the front edge of the stand, and put an extra 'door' to the sump on the end to insert/remove the sump tank.

I am gonna start playing with some designs because I want to build a 10' stand for a 84g and a 55g that I want to put 2 55s under. If I get some drawn up soon I will post them here.

I guess my problem is the 2 tanks are the same depth. I will use the samples provide to figure something out. thank you

I would use the multi-colored design for what you are going. It will work perectly and give you more strength and support that you will ever need. Plus, it would only cost about $20 to make. This is the design I use to build 99% of all my tank stands.

Pharoh trad you and Mike thread. I think I will take your advice. I wasn't think that the 30 long is shorter in length and will slide right in the back. Thanks and I hope it comes out half as nice as your projects. I think I might get would tonight and do somehting Tomorrow. I will try to make time.
