I have an awesome 10" super red dragon fh, and Ive been debating which pair will produce a better fry... should i stick with straight red dragon genetics or cross with this female kk to bring out the pearl?

Ive been leaning towards the female red dragon because I know what the fry will look like, how do you guys think the kamfa would turn out tho?

i think if u wanna different look go with kk, but with kamfa not all male kamfa fertilize , so your male fry my be not fertilize later, , but try it let see how they gonna looks like, if i dont remember it wrong if the fry has red eye thts mean thyr fertilize male fry

Im not completely sure she is a kamfa, i got it at a lfs that didn't know the genetics so kk is more of a guess than anything. I'm just not sure if they would be ugly but probably more interesting than a straight RD...

I like the red dragon too, thats the one I have in there right now. I just put her in today so the blue and red coloring on her was a little faded when I took the pic but youre right its not the most colorful female. Ive heard that 90% of the fry will resemble the male and the rest with be a combination of the two but I dont know if thats true, I was hoping to get most of the color from the male tho

Hopefully good news. I separated them for a couple hours and removed all the hiding spots and they are now digging in the gravel. I have seen this before so hopefully its not just nothing.
that would b sick man, i was just told today by the guy i bought my male rd from that flowerhorns dont like gravel when breeding and think its dirty so its harder to get them to breed. i would wait to see what the do, but if they dont start spawning this time I would remove all gravel, place a clay plate the size of your female in the middle(if theyre the only fish in the tank) and put an air stone near the breeding spot to trigger their breeding instincts.
