Hi,
So I've been wanting a puffer for several months now and a friend of mine with experience mentioned congo puffers, Tetraodon miurus. I researched quite a bit over the last 2 months and decided I wanted one, but just wasn't sure when. Well, one of my trips to Petco ended with me getting a 40B and my fiance getting a 20L ($/gal sale) and it was time to start getting all the equipment and decide where I was getting my congo.
I had trouble finding a LFS that I felt comfortable buying through and ended up ordering it online, to be overnight shipped to me. I received my puffer last Thursday, 08/09/2012 at 10a sharp from UPS (shipped from Oregon the previous afternoon).
He was 2.5" nose to just before the tail, ~3.5" nose to tail when I got him, little guy!
I placed him in a clear tupperware container inside a bucket and drip acclimated into the tupperware container allowing the water to overflow into the bucket:
Then I put him in the 40B:
A short video of him immediately after putting him in the tank:

He's in the tank with some Buenos Aires Tetras that were used to help the tank cycle and then, the idea was, to become food later. Seeing how little Lu is and how fast the tetras are I think they'll be tank mates for a little while still.
Of course, Lu likes to hide:
Even if he's not completely buried
:
And here's a pic of Lu immediately after eating:
The tank now sits like this:
Minus the lily pads to the right and the powerhead. I'll likely be adding more lava rock or a large piece of driftwood along the back of the tank to plant more anubias and other west african plants in to try to follow a biotope theme with it
I chose the name Lu as short for Kutulu (or Cthulhu), as H.P. Lovecraft's mythical character
So far, he eats *a little bit of* bloodworms from frozen cubes (what the place I got him from said they fed him), ghost shrimp, and fancy guppies (relatively slow and easy for him to see). I still haven't been able to ween him off of live food and I've heard it's pretty difficult to do so I've started a cherry shrimp and guppy tank to hopefully get colonies going as a constant food supply
He seems pretty happy on 1 guyloaded guppy/day right now and is very active in the mornings and calms down during the day some
I have a feeding video if anyone is interested, unsure if they're allowed to be posted here or what the rules are on it
Anyways, I hope you enjoy my little Lu! I plan to update this thread every other week or so with more pics and videos of him. Today he was REALLY active, following me around on the front glass for quite a while
