Alright guys....here is my DIY stand and hood for my 100 gallon acryilic tank.
Now my tank came with a metal stand so all I need is a cosmetic stand. Not one that will actually support the whole tank. Two reasons this rocks. #1 Its INEXPENSIVE!!!! about $125 for both the stand and the hood including all Wood, trim, hardware, primer and paint. and #2 I can remove the stand anytime i want if I need more room to work on the sump or anything under the tank. Plus it looks great.
I also took a ton of pics so enjoy and hopefully this gives some of you some good ideas.
Here is the tank and stand I bought. You can see the metal stand came with it.
I layed out the pieces of the stand so you can see the idea. The stand is just going to wrap around three sides of the metal stand. That way I can just pull it off anytime I want.
I measure and cut all the pieces.
here is the doors being cut out.
"Look at the butt on that!"....
and yes that is my Ski Nautique on the left!!!!!!!
Make sure everything looks good......
and glue/screw it all together.
I did the same thing with the hood. Measure and cut all the pieces. Its constructed here. In the 2nd pic you can see on the end how it will rest on the tank.
Thats all I got for now. I'll post more later.
