I'm helping my friend build a basking platform on top of his tank for his 2 RES. Something like this, http://www.arcatapet.com/item.cfm?cat=15256. His tank is 30.5"L x 12.5"W. He only wants to cover about half the tank. What should we build it out of and how are we going to waterproof it?

Plexi Glass and Silicone.
Then decorate it with whatever you have to make it look a little better.
I guess foam would work too, but that seems really difficult.

I made one out of plexiglass and some teflon.
This was in my 30 gallon tank but I have the same for my 50 gallon with a sheet of green grass stuff instead of the rock and log.
I just bought a 200 gallon tank so I'll be thinking of something for that
