I'm thinking of getting a Fahaka by the end of this week. I found some for 29 bucks at about 4-5 inches TL. The puffer would be placed into a 80 gallon tank that has a 48x18" footprint. How long will it take a Fahaka to grow to about 12-14"? Thanks for any advise.

I would say about a year, easily. Depends on how much you feed it. I have had mine about a year, and he is around 10".. but I have fed him sparingly. If you feed him a high protein diet, with extra water changes, he could outgrow that tank in 6-8 months.

i had a fahaka...bought it at 2 inchs...it died of a stupid damn disease about 4 or 5 months later...It was 7.5 inchs when it died...They grow fast however i was feeding mine krill and crabs but mostly krill about 2 to 3 times a day

I'm thinking of getting a guy that young, do you know what killed him? Im worried buying a guy that small might make him more prone to sickness.

WOW I might rethink that then. I was more hopeing for 2-3 years until it reaches 12-14" but if they grow that fast I might look into some other fish then. Thanks for the replies though.
