Just a couple of neat shots I got of them tonight after a water change :) I wasn't able to get any decent shots of the male since he was hiding.

The female

Beautiful pair. Have they spawned yet?

Thank you! They have not spawned yet but they have taken over a small cave and are doing the dance so I'm sure it's only a matter of time.

Very nice. How do you sex these guys? I have two that paired up from a group but I have no idea if they are 1m1f...

Thanks! The only difference I've noted in these two is that the male is larger and the female has better coloring. Her black seems to be really black and her white is really white. The male is more dark brownish than black and his white is more like an off white color. I'm sure that could change once they actually spawn though. I'll try getting some better pictures of him so you can see what I'm talking about. Good luck with yours!

p.s. If you look at the picture of the two of them in their cave the female is on the left and the male is on the right. There are very slight differences in their faces but I'm really not sure if that is an indication of sex or just individuals having different markings.

As promised here are a few pictures of the male. He finally came out of hiding for me. They are strange little fish and move ever so slowly, so when they do come out it's fairly easy to get pictures. I'm hoping that in time(and in a bigger tank) they won't be so shy :)

Awesome pics man.

Do you keep them with anything else? Mine would eat all kinds of smaller fish. SAEs, cardinals, young orange heads, you name it. They kill their prey first and eat bit by bit. Kinda creepy, lol.

Ya they are kind creepy little fish  Mine are kept with another small pair of apistos and some white cloud mountain minnows and guppies. They well readily eat the guppy fry but leave the adult fish alone. There were some shrimp and baby marble crays but most of them have gotten eaten. Once my fish room its set up they will be moving to either a 55 gal or a 40 breeder. I can't wait!
