Machaca, toothy tetra

This one is only about 5" or 6".
They can average between 2 and 6 lbs, but have maxed out at over 10Lbs
Ive caught them in a cast net in small rivers, at over 10"


The large one above, was caught close to, and under the highway overpass, in the Rio Pedro Miguel.

I had great success catching them with crankbaits, up to 45cm, but could not confirm the claims of them being great fighters.

They look like a larger “Buenos Aires” tetras

Yes, I believe they are Brycon guatemalensis
