So I had this 75g low tech planted aquarium in my living room that has been going for almost a decade. The only fish left in it were some old congo tetras, denison barbs, and a big old angelfish. The congo tetras started slowly passing away lately from old age it seems, so I moved the remaining fish to an empty tank in my fishroom and we got a new wet pet for inside the house. My second puffer ever, a T. Miurus. It seemed to entertain the wife and kids more than a quarter school of decaying congo tetras anyway...

Tank appears cloudy as I'd just uprooted all the plants and vacuumed the sand a few hours before. The sump media has not been cleaned yet, so I don't expect a cycle. Still watching though. He's eaten a frozen krill and a (homegrown) guppy from tongs on his first day home.

Tank..................Standard 75g, drilled w/overflow box
Filtration...........Sump with poret foam
Lighting.............2x 25W RGB LED floodlights

Water..................80 F
pH 7.7
GH 120ppm
KH 80ppm

He's so tiny, he makes that aquarium look massive!!! So much space, too bad there's nothing that can live together with this fish, but I'm pretty sure his personality makes up for that.♥

Nice! Puffers are so under appreciated. So many people believe cichlids are the end all be all of fishkeeping but once youve owned a puffer and compared to owning a cichlid... then your perspective changes. Keep us updated with pics as it grows out.

I'd suggest getting a bit more sand in there, but other than that very nice. I've always wanted a red one.

Very cool! I miss mine. I was cleaning the tank and a razor blade fell into the tank and got mixed up in the sand. He dove into the blade and got a horrendous wound. Fungus set in and that was the end of lurch. Lesson learned, I guess.
