tetra has its caudal fin ripped off

hello everyone,
i bought 4 tetras from the fish store today along with two other smaller fish types i dont know the name of and one of the tetras, had its caudal fin ripped off.. what should i do? how long will it take the fin to grow back? currently i just put it in a separate bucket with a lo water level.

Post pics if possible. If the wound is into the flesh then the fin won’t grow back.

Agreed, it really depends on how bad it is. I’d down to the flesh it won’t grow back. Tetras, and just about all characins, have incredible regeneration abilities though so I wouldn’t be surprised if it heals up.

Kelly_Aquatics Deadeye sorry for the late reply, had to go to sleep ;-;
anyway, when i woke up a few hours earlier this morning it was dead
and yes, the wound was down to the flesh..
also, what is the proper healthcare i should give to fish incase i face this problem again?

I suggest thoroughly looking over the aquarium at the lfs if you notice a wounded, sick, or dead fish walk away. Also quarantine any fish you buy.
