Dow Corning 999-A Silicone
Building & Glazing Sealant is not
recommended for use in applications
involving:
• Structural silicone glazing or joints
where physical abuse or abrasion is
likely to be encountered
• Prolonged water immersion or
adhesion to porous surfaces, such
as masonry
• Building materials that might
bleed oils, plasticizers or solvents –
materials such as impregnated
wood, oil-based caulks, green or
partially vulcanized rubber gaskets
or tapes
• Totally confined spaces, because
the sealant requires atmospheric
moisture for cure
• Surfaces sensitive to corrosion by
acetic acid vapors (a byproduct of
sealant cure)
• Surfaces that will be painted (paint
will not stretch with the extensions
of the sealant and may crack and
peel); complete all painting prior
to using sealant

DOW 832 PURE SILICONE RTV NEUTRAL CURE

Features
• 100 percent silicone RTV rubber
• Superior unprimed adhesion to a
wide variety of surfaces, including
glass, metal, masonry, concrete,
most rubber and plastics, including
ABS, PVC and polycarbonate
• Low odor
• Neutral (alcohol) cure

How To Use
Apply to clean, dry, frost-free surfaces.
Typically, no primer is necessary; however,
for best adhesion to concrete, use a
primer such as Dow Corning ® 1205 Primer.
Dow Corning 832 Multi-Surface Adhesive
Sealant will dry to the touch in 20 minutes.
Limitations
• Not intended for food-contact
applications
• Requires atmospheric moisture to cure
• Not for use in submerged structural
or adhesive applications
• Not designed for high-movement
joints
• Not for application to oily or dirty
surfaces
• Most paints will not adhere to sealant

the place i work for we usege cnstruction for 8x3x2 in 1/2 inch

i use GE 10.1 oz. Clear Silicone I Window & Door Sealant on all my tanks

^^ Used the same as above on my 600G cant beat the price. I think it was $14 for a 4 pack. The stuff in LFS is a complete rip off!

the are many different type of silicone

some fish ok some not


of the ones that are fish safe there are still many types

they vary in color
strength
how they cure ( neutral, acidic or catalyst or ??)
what materials they will adhere to
are they a sealant or also an adhesive
........etc

to pick the BEST depends on the job at hand


Monster Fish and old German Shepards rule.

By the way, German Shepards prefer common variety convenience store beers. They do not like specialty beers, home brews, dark beers, heavy ales and most imported beers.

Ive used ge type 1 window and door for many tanks.Its my preferred sealant for clarity and strength.I used AGA sealant on my 125g and did not like the results,thoght it was more difficult to get a clean bead,and its cloudier.I have one tank that was made for me almiost 20 years ago at a glass shop,would love to know what he used,tank has been dry for years at a time and seal is still perfect.

tip when ur are using alot of silicone. use ge consruction for floor bracing panels bracing and rail baracing and contractor for lidstays and petitions in sumps etc

Supposedly the old GE-012A and the GE1 are the same. I read somewhere that they removed the "aquarium safe" off the label because of legal reasons and it was being co-branded out to other re-packers. Same for the GE RTV-108. I've used the 108 in non aquarium projects and that stuff doesnt play around - it's serious.

I'd still like to try the Wacker and Perennator.

??? We really need type # or something to identify it with.

How about a pic of the tube?

Kinda sure if it's brought into the U.S. & it's not on Johnptc list or mine there's a problem with it.
