I ordered a floating pot just to see how they would look. I think I might get several of them and tie them off around the sides of the pool.

Oh, and I never posted a pic of the finished pool deck. I'm going to stain it in a couple months after the wood has dried out enough and then add some lattice to the pergola and then get vines growing over it.

With luck I'll have the bog filters running tomorrow. Just need to finish adding pea gravel and then plumb them up.

Thanks for the comments. I really have to thank you tuggerd, it was your awesome build thread that I used to convince my wife that this was a good idea.

Took longer than I thought but I finally got the uv and bog filters running today. Not a moment to soon because the water turned green yesterday . I'll post some pics tomorrow.

UV Sterilizer Plumbed up

Bog Filter all done except I need a little more gravel for one of the stock tanks.

For now I just have the bog draining back to the pool thru pipes. Eventually I think I will build a waterfall from the bog filters to the pool.

The pool turned green but is starting to clear up a little with the uv running. I have to wait a week or so to see if my flow rate thru the uv is good enough to clear the pool completely.

By accident I came across an aquaponics site and discovered that my bog filters are setup exactly like they setup their "grow beds". Aquaponics is a combination of aquaculture and hydroponics. So along with some true bog plants I've planted some fall/winter veggies (lettuce, broccolli, strawberries). If they do well I'll be planting tomatoes, bell peppers, and all kinds of other vegetables in the spring. They are supposed to be great for nutrient control. I think I'm going to add some more smaller bog filters/grow beds around the pool. Should be pretty easy to do.

Pool is a little clearer today. I can just see the bottom on the shallow end now so I'm hopefull the uv will be able to clear it up completely. I picked up a good size albino cat that had outgrown someone's tank from an lfs. He's pretty cool and likes to eat alot.
