Hi all. been quite a while since I've been on. Sorta laid low for the winter here but the snow is starting to melt now and I can actually open my garage door now.

I still have 3 fish in this tank (TSN, Pleco, and Oscar). The Oscar has started making life hard on my pleco, so I'm not sure what to do with him - maybe I'll be able to get some driftwood that will give him enough room to hide.

I'm still running the bucket filter... after a year or so I still haven't needed to clean the bucket filter out (the mechanical filter works pretty well so the bucket doesn't accumulate gunk). I've swapped the gravel out for sand and it's much nicer, but I need to put a diffuser or something on my filter outlets so it doesn't mess up the sand so badly.

That's really about it. I made lids for the tank too, that are working out pretty well (important when it's so cold that the garage door starts frosting and won't open due to the ice on it).

I'll insert another promise here to put up photos, but I have a lot of other stuff on the go, so I make no promises for WHEN this will happen :p

OK so, a few months ago I took out the gravel and added 300lbs of sand. This was about half of what I needed, so tonight I had the GF come over to help me add (and spread around) another 200lbs. She had fun wading with the fish, and I got some photos.

Really? A big tank with a chick wading around with big fishies and no comment? :p I'm surprised.

Lol. I have to say I was a little surprised to see her in the tank with the fish. My wife hardly ever even comes into the fish room let alone climbing into a tank.

She was all happy to stand in warm water with sand between her toes... Said it felt like being on the beach! She didn't get to go anywhere tropical this winter, and it was a long one (snow is just disappearing now).
