I don't really see a lot of freshwater Aussie fish in North America. The only ones I can think of that I have now or had in the past are:Yeah mate, they're an Australian native. Have you ever kept any Aus natives before?
I do keep a mangrove jack. But they're more or less like Dovii's. If they're in a tank of 10,000 gallons or less, they have to be solitary. Psychopathic things.
God thats cool. I haven't seen any Australian Lungfish even though I live in Australia. Must of been a headache to try and get one especially being in North America. Is he currently in your monster 15000 or 50000? If they're even still up and running after 20 years?I don't really see a lot of freshwater Aussie fish in North America. The only ones I can think of that I have now or had in the past are:
Melanotaenia fluviatilis none now
Maccullochella peelii one at present but possibly suffered air bladder problems in shipping to me 8”
Scleropages jardini owned 4 but none now
Neoceratodus forsteri one about 36” -38”
and fresh/brackish
Hypseleotris compressa 8 at present in freshwater
I've never had barramundi or Scleropages leichhardii in case you are wondering
Hello Don good to hear from you. Sorry I did not notice this post earlier. To add a post sript. I saw this site in the past but the location threw me. I assumed it was in the middle east someware and with the billions of humans on the planet it was possible for two to have so many similarities. Then I discovered that the location is in outerspace.
Not a huge amount of Gar experience.Hope your well Arapaimag.
I've seen a couple Gar fish in my LFS and wondered if you had any experience with them? These were Spotted and Florida Gars. I'd love an Alligator Gar but not sure of the legalities in the UK.

Yes, although I do not see him often because of his incredible schedule of traveling, writing, lecturing, living in Italy and being a husband and father.Wait, did I understand this right that you are Friends with Heiko Bleher?
Both tanks are still up and running.God thats cool. I haven't seen any Australian Lungfish even though I live in Australia. Must of been a headache to try and get one especially being in North America. Is he currently in your monster 15000 or 50000? If they're even still up and running after 20 years?
And one of my top 5 Maccullochella peelii, Murray Cod, I have one at the moment and he's about 1.5 inches, very small. sorry to hear he's having swimm bladder problems. Do you think he'll make it? I'd love to see you grow one out. I think if i'm not mistaken the biggest ever caught was 183 cm and 250lb, but was estimated over 120 years old. Dunno if I could stand the wait.
Wow I can't believe your mega tanks are still running! What sort of major problems have you ran into in the last 10 years? Both tanks are still up and running.
The aussie Lungfish is considered by me and many other people as the holy grail of fishkeeping.
My friend and MFK founder Li Chih brought in quite a few in 2006 and gave me mine when I visited his house while attending the 2006 Catfish Conference in Maryland. Several hobbyists including Egon and Simon L have them on this site. They appear to be fairly easy to obtain now that they are being made available from the breeding farm in Australia. I keep it in a 560g/2120l but might move him to a section of the 15,000g/56,780l if I can divide it safely, and give it about a 10x10ft/305cmx305cm area.
My Murray cod arrived with the bladder problem more than a year ago. He seems stunted but healthy even with the problem
