If it's a yellow bullhead they stay relatively small. They largest I've caught out of local lakes were around 16". I don't think they get much larger.

Not yellow (these have white mandibular barbels). Brown or black bullheads.

Almost 100% Black bullheads. Yellows have white mandibulars. Could be browns but blacks are known to look almost identical if not more yellow than yellow bullheads, the mandibulars are always a way to tell them apart though.
