Yeah he was in a 75 gallon set up for him with 4 silver dollars. He was eating home bred feeders. The only thing was that he was the only Cuba. It happened so fast it's never happened to me before I kept cudas for years but it was a mix of 2 red 2 yellow and nothing like this.

It happens more than u think. Glass bangers as rep and then die. It's usually suggested to keep 4 or more to reduce stress.

He ordered me 2 because that's all he said he could get then one died and they weren't even Red. Lesson learned don't go back to that guy and if one fish dies suddenly there is probably something wrong with the pair?

Probably not. It just means his distributor only had 2. Also I'm in agreement it probably died from stress or glass banging or a combination of the 2

Probably not the owners fault. These are wild caught fish. They aren't tank bred. Still can get two and acclimate them. He's trying to make a business and get fish u want. It's just these are just sensitive fish and u now know their nature. Could be numerous reasons and still worth a retry (cause I like cudas) and make sure u take the right measures.

Yeah I just don't like when fish are mislabeled. But he didn't force me to buy it. Okay so do you think the only thing to do different is to get multiples or as many as I can find?

Would anyone have any idea where I could find some Redtails?

I use online stores and aquabid. Also amazing fish/fugupuff will get some too but these are seasonal.

Gotta wait and be patient.

But I will say give ur lfs guy a try again. This is the kind of store that needs business. He/she's willing to get fish u want. These fish aren't available at chain stores. The hobby is dying and as a consumer these are the stores that we need. Ok let me step off my high horse here lol.

In case you didn't know, cudas are a very skittish fish. Any slight movement will cause them to dart right into the glass. That's how I lost my 8" yellowtail. It's a pity that they die so easily.
