I am looking for someone to adopt my Pacu. It's free! No local stores or aquarium will take it. Let me know if anyone in NJ is interested or any rescue organizations where I can bring him to. Thank you

You could probably take it to an Asian grocery store, it might be the most humane way to go. When I lived in my Milwaukee, I was told at least 1 per month is offered to the zoo, and they can't take them. They already had many bigger around than man hole covers.

If the re-home fails, then get a bigger tank for him. Even a stock tank or a small above ground pool would do...
Prepare yourself for the "should-have-planned-ahead" replies....Pacu are not an easy fish to re-home.
Good luck.

Perhaps put it down would be best thing for the pacu or just have a fish fry.

my local fish store had a 15lb pacu that someone had given them. They couldn't sell it until someone walked in, bought it for $25, and took it to a local Chinese restaurant. Apparently pacu is a delicious to eat.

Call the New Jersey Aquarium and see if they will take it.

pacu are a fish in the category of rtc's and tsn's that need to not be offered in regular pet stores, too many and no where to put them.

I with duanes and MNrebel, euthanizing will be the best option since you can't keep it or upgrade.
