lol it sucks u got angels cuz now your selection of cichlids is so limited to what you can put with them. I got rid of my Bolivian Rams and decided against angels for several reasons
She was my first buy for a 35gal. That we just upgraded out of... There were less options for that size tank as well... We still have it but I have been restricted to only one tank by the better half :/

I could never just do 1 tank. A 2nd tank can be a great safe-guard in case tank #1 has issues.

So u got a empty 35g, right?

I'm tellin ya,.....that feeling sucks of waking-up to a beat-down fish and not having any place to move it too, then start scrambling to figure something out. At least a little tank for a quarantine/hospital should be a part of EVERY fishkeeper's arsenal. Breeder nets are only so useful and for a limited time.

Hey Frank, just curious what your reasons were against the angels? I've got rams, sevs and angels together.

you should be ok since the Severums are the most aggressive you have, but I wouldn't try anything with your fish with any of the fish that I own. Most of my stuff is semi-aggressive to extremely aggressive SA/CA/African cichlids. The trailer fins on Angels are a big bull's-eye for fin-nippers, Rams generally get bullied by everything that's NOT an Angelfish, and I think a Severum could easily kill the whole tank if it decided it wanted to.

Angels are not strong swimmers either, so getting away would pose an issue, at least the Rams can hide in smaller places bigger fish can't get them, but then what? They gotta come out to eat, and you don't buy Rams to see them hide anyway...

If I did an Angelfish/Ram tank, I would be limited to like NO other cichlids and just dithers and bottom-feeders. I'm sorry, IDK about you, but I NEEDZ MOAR SICKLIDZ :p

I got away with Rams, Geophagus brasiliensis and a Gymnogeophagus balzanii and a bunch of dithers and bottom-feeders, but I got rid of the Rams cuz they looked like they hadn't eaten in a month and I go a little crazy when I feed too lol

Ah yes, that is why I have my 150 for more aggressive/semi-aggressive cichlids. The 135 is for my angelfish community. And I have my 55 for my polleni. Even still, I want more cichlids! :)
