I see them all the time and they have them in fresh water i thought all puffers were saltwater fish ... can they be put into saltwater? If so how would i go about it ?
There is freshwater puffers. SOme get a few feet. MBU puffers are the largest species of FW then it is Fahaka.
The one you saw at walmart is a brackish fish. Its both fresh and salt water mix. Even though they use just freshwater they can adapt to it. Search the puffer section on here a lot of great info!
Do you think a drip would work ?Brackish puffer normally lives part of its life in brackish water and as an adult lives in saltwater. Many fish do this like mollies. If a fish has been living in fresh water for a long time and is suddenly switched to saltwater then they usually cannot adapt fast enough to survive. Sometimes it takes weeks to convert a brackish fish from freshwater to saltwater, by slowly raising the salinity over time.
I suppose it can work I'm no expert I have never done this. I had a conversation with my father who is a saltwater guy and he told me people do the drip method all the time.Do you think a drip would work ?

The puffer I believe most be a brackish specimen or else it will just die. Kind of like snowflake eels and other eels that can be freshwater/brackish/saltwater fish. If you're thinking about this why not just buy a saltwater proven puffer?
My father had a 4 foot moray eeel with a puffer and they both did well together.
