how fast do pacu grow and what would be the minimum tank size for 3 or 4 ???
They grow relatively fast. Red Bellied Pacus would need a several hundred gallon tank for four (the bigger the better).

Black Pacus are different. They would need a small pond or a couple thousand gallon tank maybe.

They grow as fast as any monster fish, mine grew a foot in 1 year from the size of 2 inchs, but I fed them like 3 times or more each day. I had them in a 20 gallon long till they were 9 inchs each and they were happy as long as I fed them, but yea your going to need about 55 or bigger to start off with, and a pond to be honest is the best place you can really put a pacu. I have 4 and there all in my 1,000 gallon outdoor pond and loving every second of it. If you have pacu and you plan to keep them for a long time a pond should be something you may want to keep in mind, if you have any questions feel free to PM me about pond ideas and I could help you out.

About 1" per month until they are about 15" long, then it slows to about 1/2" per month.

4 of them will need at least 5-600 gallons.

Ummm this is a post from last July, why bring it back up?

mine went from 2 inches to a foot in maybe 6 months or less, he is already too big for my 300 gallon aquarium cause they are sort of like a bull in a china cabinet, they are not really gracefull. Growth rate extremely fast

see, another person with a several hundred gallon tank that says its still too small, i learned the same thing keeping mine in a 250g. the bull in a china shop analogy is spot on, absolutely perfect!

maybe more people will realize this, and stop recomending that pacu can be kept in a 2-300 gallon tank with no issue.

What about a 300 gallon pond? I think dimensions matter more than gallons. 5 feet of width is better than 12" or 18".
