Anyone have some my lfs has some what's your opinion on this fish any pic of some thes are like 1/12 in size

I think they are a fabulous fish to keep. They grow extremely fast, and get to about 15"-18"with height and girth to match, so they need a very large tank. Mine were good in a 150 gallon starting at @ 2" for about 2 years, then needed to be moved to a 300 gal.
They are primarily vegetarian and do well with a high spiraling pellet, I also supplement with romaine and dandelion, because they are known to eat overhanging terrestrial vegetation in nature.

Thanks think I will get a few never seen them in lfs

I bought 3. 1 died, one never grew much, and 1 grew like a weed. He was 6 inches, started getting like a small hump on his head, he was awesome. Very hungry all the time. He jumped outta the tank while I was on vacation.

I've seen pics of Bocourti here on MFK that are just stunning. If I were going to keep 'em, I'd buy a group, breed 'em, and grow a bunch out. Because they vary a lot, some get pinks/reds under their throats, they're just awesome fish.

I've been growing out my group of bocourti for about 18 months now. They are nice fish and mine are now just starting to color up. I'd guess the biggest is about 10", and the smallest is about half that size. They love romaine lettuce. I think they'd go through a head a day if I put that much in the tank!

Duanes --

Does that one in your pic have red on the sides? I've seen pics of Bocourti with some blue around the edges of the fins, too. They're not all solid gold with black stripes.

They are wonderful fish and currently on the look out for another one. One of my biggest regrets was selling mine. Even tempered and great with other similar tempered SA/CA cichlids.
