Muscle man managed to get the damn tank on the stand BY HIMSELF while I was napping! The tank is 4'x2'x2' with 10mm glass and somehow his short ath got it onto the stand 3' off the ground without any help... Gosh he's amazing :D

I'll try to get some snaps during set up tomorrow, no promises though. He doesn't like me taking pictures of things when they're only half done  either way I'll post some pics of River in her new home either tomorrow or Saturday (my time).

Also, anyone know what the chances are of my pleco (L397) being able to retreat without serious damage if she tried hurting him, if I were to put him in with her? I asked in the pleco section but so far no responses.. Thanks :)

It's just trial and error.
I would try it though,I think you have more chance of it working out than not.
I kept 4 bristle nose pleco and even 4 little clown pleco with my gt's.Even when the gt's were adults and breeding they did them no harm.
My experience with gt's is they basically ignore non cichlid tank mates too big to become a meal.

Sweet. I was a little skeptical on the idea (especially considering the rarety and price of L397's here) but hearing that brings some comfort. :)

Jeff wants to try putting our black widow tetras with her and I'm like "NOOO!!!" I doubt we'd have trouble while she's 3" long but when she grows up she'll probably be able to eat them or at least bite them in half so that's not happening unless hell freezes over lol

I recon I'll try putting Sir Elton in with her once I've got more wood for my tanks. I like to keep a selection of wood for him to munch and there will only be goldvine in with River for the first few months. But I'm loving the idea of being able to keep a tank mate or two (thinking about another L397) with her. I don't like the "jam packed" look but I don't really want to keep her as a Nigel No Friends either haha

Thanks again for all your help. :)

River is in her big tank!!! She's been in there for 4-5 days (whenever Sunday was) and is doing really well, she seems to be really loving the extra space. :)

We measured her and she's just under 10cm right now. She's growing very quickly and getting more beautiful every day. :D

I stayed out on Monday and Tuesday night and when I came home yesterday Jeff had the widows in with her  but they're all still okay so I've decided to let him leave them there. If I see any aggression between River and the tetras I'll be removing them instantly.

I'll get some decent pics of them all tomorrow if Jeff gets the light hung up, it doesn't get enough light for my phone camera to pick up the fish. If not I'll have to find all our torches and line them up on top of the tank and see of that works...

Jeff scaped the tank and for some reason it drives me nuts. I don't know why but every time I look at it I want to rip it apart and redo it but he's proud of it and the fish are comfortable in it so stay it shall...

Please excuse the measuring tape and actual tape, I was trying to get an educated estimate on how big the widows are earlier... Failed epically :D

lol you could always just mark off 1" marks with a permanent marker at the very bottom of the tank (below the substrate) to use as references rather than having to constantly tape/remove a tape measure to the glass

That's an idea... The tape isn't on it anymore but I'll likely get it back out to mark the tank... Thanks :)

What's a Rena canister??

Is that Co2 setup I see?
Nope... I'm not sure what you're seeing... Probably Jeff's bodgey internal filter hahaha
