Male or Female Texas Cichlid?

I've had this fish since August 4th, 2016. I've always assumed it was a male but never had a confirmation. It enjoys moving gravel out of the way to show the bare glass after water changes. I thought maybe it was a spawning thing but I don't see the tube. Just curious to hear ya'lls opinion. Thanks!

Was it sold to you as a pure texas cichlid? I would be leaning towards a male do to body shape and thickness.

It's a Red Texas - a hybrid, not a TRUE Texas Cichlid and it looks like a male.

I know it's not pure. I think maybe some fh is in him.

Any pics with the dorsal fin extended? I guess male, but I've seen a couple females shaped like that as well.

A Red Texas is a hybrid of a Texas cichlid and a Red Devil cichlid or possibly other Amphilophus species
