That is awesome!

I couldn't do what you 2 did because I would lose my mind. I would sell nearly everything and just start over (keeping only some of my favorite fish).

It's been a long time since I started this thread. Time for some updates. This is going to seem like it went A LOT faster than it actually did. This was a very slow process. When you buy a new house, the priority for the expendable income is rarely the fish room. But progress was made none-the-less.

First step, fix the basement walls. Loose grout/drylock out:
IMG_9926_zpsc7a9537b.jpg

On the second wall. Doing this in a function fish room is a pain... dirty work.

Now time to patch it up with the hydraulic cement:

And Dry-Lock it
20160131_173423_zpsjseygdny.jpg

And the other wall:

20160131_190408_zpszz9gqvba.jpg

Time to paint the stands
20160521_204226_zpsls5ebuix.jpg

And the floor
20160522_205356_zpsbzkez8h4.jpg

At least, where we could paint it. Slippery when wet. Note: empty 90 gallon and pipe sticking out of the wall. 90 Gallon crashed when a heater died in the stuck position GRRRRR. For those following this thread (https://www.monsterfishkeepers.com/forums/threads/the-bichir-gang-chronicles.682976), Honey Bichir and Rhino were the only survivors.

The fish-room has been taking shape in phases.

Phase 1: Get tanks setup and get fish out of the coolers on move-in day.
Phase 2: Get tanks setup in semi-permanent locations in a way that we can work on the foundation.
Phase 3: Fix foundation and outfit room for fish (plumbing and electric)
Phase 4: Transition tanks from semi-permanent to permanent locations.
Phase 5: Expand
Phase 6: Expand some more.
Phase 7: Who knows!?

This is the story of Phase 4. Phase 1 was done on move-in day. Phase 2 was completed about 2 months later. Phase 3 took about 2 years LOL. Phase 4 took about two months.

With the foundation fixed and the floor sealed up, the main rack could be built. Laying out the 120g bases:

Painted and starting to place tanks

This mess looks like a lot of fishrooms I've been in... time to clean it up, organize, get the central air plumbed, get the tanks onto the rack, and get the fish into new homes.
The mess_zpsyke0ljnw.jpg Getting there... but still lots to do
Still lots to do_zpsp2likelv.jpg
Almost there....

Phase 4 complete

Phase 4 finished, on to Phase 5.

Painted the floor and wall. Shopping time... gotta figure out a seating plan. Found this sectional for cheap and it fits in great.

With the furniture in place, time to maximize the tanks for Phase 5. This stand was finished yesterday. And just like that, with three posts, you're caught up on 3 years in our fish room :p:D

That's an amazing fish room. I love it.

I'm gonna show this to my other half who also happens to love fish. I think this is gonna be our goal for long term lol

Bichir girl did something like that when she moved from KS to MO a couple of years ago. She had her fish living in buckets in a friends living room for a week. I am a firm believer in only taking your prize fish on the road and selling the rest. Bichir Girl is not of the same opinion LOL. I only lost two fish that were "mine". She lost a many more. And even then, we had sold and given away a lot of fish to friends and folks in the local club before we packed it up and left.

I snapped a few pics just now... nothing special though. I'm not mobile enough to put any effort into it right now LOL.

Venni pike that is wondering when I'm going to let him into his new tank.

Snap-shot of our African Tank... mostly Malawi, a few Tangs, and a whole mess of plecos and wood. The wood is in there mainly so that we don't lose the bacteria on them... we've got lots of rocks ready to go into the tank once we get the wood out into other tanks.

Five MFK points to the first person who can correctly name the two SA cichlids in the picture. Bonus 10 if you can name the female Tang on the poking out of the hole on the left.
Number two is definitly some aequidens... im gonna say metae

Phase 4 finished, on to Phase 5.

Close!
Aequidens diadema in foreground, L thayeri is background, T. bifrenatus in the corner . All, sadly, dead and gone now. The bifrenatus just died a couple weeks ago... OLD fish... was someone's breeder out in KS for a couple years before he came to us.

Phase 5 continues! This is a beautiful sight.... even though it's just 5.5 gallon tanks :p

Painted the stand, drilled the tanks, dry-fitted the drains, all tanks onto the stand except the "show" tank.
