My ducks do just fine with their kiddie pool made of rigid plastic I got for $25. 4ft diameter 10" high. I would look around and see if anyone is throwing out stock tank/tubaware/old fridge/anything like that. A mechanic might throw away an empty 55gal barrel, but you'd have to build it stand, clean it, seal the holes, and cut an opening in the side to make a tank of it.

Lots of good ideas in this thread. One more would be- have you checked craigslist? I got my 5' 80gal there for 80 bucks, I got a 72 bowfront for a hundred bucks, I see 55 gallons up there for next to nothing all the time.

I keep my ducks outside in their own duckhouse. If I kept them inside I'd be more worried about the smell than the humidity. In the winter you do have to break the ice on their water twice a day, so I don't know how good of an idea it would be to keep fish there, though.

Since it's winter here my koi and Goldie's are all in the basement. The koi and fancies are in an intex kiddie pool and the common golds are in a storage bin. Lol. Very ghetto, but works great for now. Anything you can get to hold water and hook a pump to will work. Amazon has cheap pools. Or like others said Craigslist is a good place for cheap used items.

As for humidity, I always run a dehumidifier 24/7.

I've built an above ground pond with cinder blocks, wood, and a pond liner. The pond liner being the most expensive part. Really depends on how ghetto you want to get. I also built a filter for it out of a plastic plant pot and the most expensive part was the water pump. All in all I was able to build a roughly 375g pond for $300 (I think...it's been awhile).

that is a nice pond for that price
