Hi everyone, first off I'm new to MFK but I have a Red Devil named Rico. He's about 6-7 inches right now and I have him in a 75 gallon tank by himself. I'm just looking for tips and ideas to help me better my tank.

Filtration: I have an AC110 with everything that came with it. Please tell me if I need other filtration. I was thing about getting a sunsun hw-304b, a mini canister filter to help and maybe also adding two sponge filters. Is that overkill?

Substrate: I currently do not a substrate. Is this not a good idea? I was thinking about doing PFS or crushed coral sand. Which would be better?

Heater: I have a 300 watt heater. I forget the brand but it's fine

Aeration: Currently None. This is why I was planning on getting a dual air pump for the sponge filters (I figured they would agitate the water flow some while also helping with bio filtration). And I was thinking about adding a hydor koralia 1400. Is that too much? Any other recommendations?

Lighting: I have a 4ft fluorescent bulb in right now. Would LED be more beneficial or look better?

Anything else that I may have miss regarded optimizing my tank, please feel free to add. I'm all ears. Thanks everyone!

For filtration, I would just add a SunSun 304B. Then, remove the carbon from your AC110 and replace it with more bio media. I wouldn't trust the AC110 on its own for the whole tank, but they are great filters.

For lighting, it's really your personal preference. If you like the looks with the light you have, great. If you like an LED better, then switch.

No substrate is much easier to maintain, and substrate is not necessary. However, if you want it for looks then pool filter sand is a great option.

Heater is fine, but you should really add a controller to it. I use the InkBird from Amazon. If that 300W gets stuck on it will heat the water too high and kill your fish. This happened to my son's ten gallon tank and the water was over 102* by the time I found it.

I don't think you need to add any air stones or sponge filters. The AC110 will break the surface plenty and if you put the return of the SunSun 304B pointed toward the surface, you will be fine.
