How long have you had your fish and the tank?
I've seen this happen to fish that are newly bought and put into a brand new uncycled tank. Hearty fish can be hearty, but they too have their limitations. But like everyone says above, get the fish out of that pebbled water.
I had the fish in this aquarium for nearly 7 months. It was just an inch when I bought it. I did a complete water change last Saturday and added the water conditioner. But yesterday night at this time it was playing very well. All of a sudden when I woke up today morning it was struggling to keep afloat and his left eye appeared cloudy.

As of now, I have done a 50% wc in the morning, followed by 25% and 25% wc. I have also added 10 ml of paracidol and half a bottle of metrogyl solution as per instructions from a local pet store. I hope he can somehow survive and be healthy again. How frequently do you all suggest me to do a wc in this current situation.

Look like ammonia poisoning to me and the tank is probably not cycle. It's due to insufficient filtration.
How frequently should I do the water change to get the tank cycled?

You should watch how to cycle a tank. It give you a step by step process on cycling aquarium. Are you thinking about having a bigger tank to keep a flowerhorn?

Thanks for sharing the info. Yes. I was planning to upgrade to a 4 ft (400 L) tank in the next 10 days but then this happened. I wish it recovers and I can house it in a new tank setup once it recovers.

I have seen plenty of fish bounce back with stress coat. But honestly it looks like this fish keeper hasn't read up on filtration and water changes. I myself skimp on water changes sometimes opting just to top off the water, but it has been a very long time since I lost a fish to bad water quality.

As you can see from his tank, he don't even have any biological media or any sponge filter where the beneficial bacteria can live. As the fish get bigger in that small tank, the fish produce a lot more ammonia compare to a little fish.

Are you sure there is no mechanical filter on that tank? I can't be certain as I do see what appears to be a black tube to the right of that heater. Regardless, if he doesn't have a filter, then it may be a case of reading up on the basics. The cost of the lights, filter, media, plumbing etc will usually cost more than the tank itself, possibly more than the fish you keep depending on fish.

All I see is a powerhead with just a long tube to keep the water well circulated. If he had an aqua clear filter it would have been a different story.
