My mate was just telling me about the floods in Texas, they sound very scary! I hope everyone over there is staying safe during such a horrible event.

Hello; The storm is still going on with another day or so yet to go. There are a few dead reported but it is so early and many roads are still flooded. Tens of thousands are displaced from their homes. My guess being many of the homes will be destroyed or unlivable. Many will not have any flood insurance so will have a total loss.

Fuel prices are predicted to jump up and their could be shortages. Their may be damage to the refining infrastructure but so far that has not been reported. The big plants had warning enough to lock down and get somewhat ready. The bigger issue may be that the folks who work at the plants have lost homes and such.

It is pretty much a 24/7 news cycle sort of like when my area was on fire last fall.

hello; I was flipping thru the TV earlier and caught a bit on Tucker Carlson. I missed the early part but it seems that in some state (USA) a bill has been introduced ( did not get the name or number) that will give jail time if medical workers do not use the pronoun a patient prefers. I think it means that if a person is born male but wants to be called Miss and the nurse calls him Mr., then the nurse can be charged with something and can get jail time.
I will try to catch Tucker Carlson repeat show later to get better information.

If anyone knows about this please post some information.

That's very scary! I can't imagine what it would be like to be caught up in something like that!

I really feel for those people who don't have insurance for this, as if losing everything isn't hard enough, losing everything and not even being able to start over would be a literal hell..

Are you for real?! Jail time for medical professionals over a stupid pronoun?! What is the world coming to??

Idk about anyone else but if I'm at the hospital with a severe issue, and the nurse calls me "Sir" or "Mr" or even "Dude" I'm probably not going to care. If that person is going to save my life then they can call me whatever they damn well want to! Hell, they can refer to me as male genitalia for all I care as long as they fix me!

The fellow on the TV segment in favor of this was Robin Biro. He says "misusing someone's pronoun is abuse." Also the bill seems to have some focus on nursing home caregivers.
There apparently are several other things in the proposed that were not discussed last night. I do not know what those things are.

State senator Scott Weiner proposed the bill.

I guess I get what they want from their own point of view, but seems like if this becomes a law it will have implications far worse to my and others ability to express ourselves among other implications. There seems no end to the demands this fringe group will make.

I guess I shouldn't be amazed that someone named Weiner would be involved with that nonsense.
What is it with the citizens of Commiefornia?...it's as if they only vote for weirdos and people who seem to only be interested in pushing legislation that is against them.
They actually want to criminalize an honest working person who contributes to society for the mortal sin of addressing someone.....Good Grief!
